Do you want to go deeper? 4 tips to enhance your yoga experience!

  1. BREATHE.

  2. Get to know yourself – Intentionally approach your time on the mat with curiosity of the mind and body. Observe which poses feel good and which you want to get out of. Take notes as a third party, without judgment, of what thoughts come up–where and when throughout your practice.

  3. Listen to your body – Your body is wise and it will tell you what you need to know. It is your job to figure out how to hear what it’s telling you. Dismiss expectations from others and yourself. Use sensation to extend beyond your mind and pain as indication to back off.

  4. Practice silence – pure silence can be splendid, but life is loud. The power of listening beyond the cacophony, takes discipline, time and effort. Commit to being quiet for a designated time each day. Stick with it, even if your mind wanders away, and it will! Let it go and begin again.

“Undisturbed calmness of mind is attained by cultivating friendliness toward the happy, compassion for the unhappy, delight in the virtuous and indifference toward the wicked.”  – Patanjali, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
